Installing the RapidiConnector

If you want to transfer data to/from MS Dynamics AX Data Sources, you have to do the following:

  • Install "MS-SQL Client" or "Oracle Client" on the computer from where you have the RapidiConnector running. For Oracle based systems, you additionally need to create a TNS entry and ensure that you can connect to your Axapta Oracle database.

Configuration

The fields of the Dynamics AX Data Source Card are described as follows:

  • Description: Enter a text describing the Data Source.
  • Database Type: Choose which system your Axapta is running on (Oracle or MS-SQL).
  • Server Connect: If running on an MS-SQL server you specify the name of the MS-SQL Server.
You can also specify the TCP/IP Address.
If running on an Oracle Server you specify the TNS name.
  • Database Path: If running on an MS-SQL Server you specify the name of the database on the MS-SQL Server.
If running on an Oracle Server you leave this field blank.
  • Use Windows Authentication (only on SQL Server): If you use the same UserID and Password to access the database when logging on to your Windows, you can mark this field. Please note that it is the username that the RapidiConnector is running under that is used. If you use windows authentication, the fields UserID and Password are ignored.
  • UserID: If access to the database requires a UserID you have to specify the UserID here.
  • Password: If you enter a UserID the corresponding Password is applied here.
  • Company: Enter which Company you want to use (specify the name).
  • Schema: You can specify which schema should be used.
